Welcome to the Marketing Olympics, People.

I feel a sense of shame; I’m jumping on the bandwagon on this one. I lose all credibility as an “independent thinker” forevermore with this post – which kills me, I just can’t help it. Deep breath – I love the new iPhone 5 commercial.

I have NEVER gotten my kicks from electronics. Call me a girly girl, but my eyes glaze over in Best Buy. I fall into a mind-numbing stupor in a Verizon store. My normally spastic brain completely flat lines during T-Mobile commercials…, wait, did you notice how that new chick looks EXACTLY like Catherine Zeta-Jones!? …gives new meaning to “commercially non-recognizable,” right?? Then I saw the latest iPhone 5 TV ad, and I nearly jumped on the couch Tom Cruise-style yelling “I LOVE THE iPhone!”

Shameful, I know. But I can’t help it – this new ad really gets me going and suddenly I’m an iPhone junkie like the rest of the natural born losers. OK, I have an iPhone. Fine. Never was I more ready to get my “I ❤ My iPhone” button until I saw this commercial.

iPhone 5 Commercial

Photos Every Day

So, here’s why. The ad shows people taking pictures with their iPhones. Simple, boring, yawn, right? WRONG. The beautiful images you see are captured are amazingly every day and the moments during which these people capture these beautiful images are also amazingly everyday. You don’t even get to see the images. The commercial isn’t about the images, its about the inspiration. Heart-stopping inspiration. And the ONLY reason inspiration is captured, the only reason, is because in these amazingly everyday moments all you have – and all you need – is your iPhone.

Remember my post Make Me More Awesome? You never need to carry a separate, bulky, instant-dork-maker, digital camera again people. With the iPhone, your life IS more awesome. All you need is your iPhone and you too can capture your inspiration. This isn’t sidewalk hopscotch, this is marketing at an Olympic level, people. How’s that for inspiration?
